FAQs about the PAWS TO READ FINAL PARTY
Shoes for Water
One out of 10 people on earth lack safe drinking water. 2.5 billion people lack water sanitation facilities. Waterstep can help, and we can help Waterstep!
From Aug. 1-31, we will collect shoes, sandals, flip-flops, clogs, and boots to benefit the creation of safe water for the world. We did it last year, and people responded generously. Boxes will be placed in the library’s front hallway for receipt of donations.
Usable shoes can be worn by people in countries where parasites and diseases are spread, sometimes through unclean water. Other shoes can be sold by local merchants in poorer parts of the world. And more shoes can be recycled, not merely dumped in landfills where, again, tainted water may pool and breed disease.
So—need to clean out your shoe rack or closet? Bring your footwear to us during August. Thanks! If you have questions about this project, contact Denise Henderson at 263-4662 or e-mail email@example.com.
Friends of the Library Going Gangbusters!
The Friends of the Library continue to provide a steady stream of revenue via ongoing book sales—and, by the time you read this, undoubtedly through their BIG sale at the end of June.
Thanks to the Friends’ underwriting, to the tune of $500, the adult Summer Reading Program prizes include a Kindle (?or maybe two?), reading pillow, gift cards, and more.
Regular Friends meetings are on hold for the summer. Membership in the Friends is free! Call Amber Hopwood @ 697-3097 for information about the Friends’ mission and volunteer opportunities.
Making Your Library Card Work For You!!
FREE Services @ APL
eAccounts – Your Library Account Online – From our website you can access the online library catalog and sign in to your library account. You’ll need your library card number & password. Logging in allows you to renew many of your materials, place holds on items, change your email address, and more!
eMailed Receipts – Have your check-out receipt emailed! When you check out your books, ask to have your receipt emailed. It’s a great way to keep track of what you have checked-out and when items are due.
Checkout History – Our system can now keep track of the books you’ve checked out once they are returned! You can now turn this feature on by contacting the library. Once activated, every time an item is returned, it will be added to your history. This will be helpful to those who like to keep track of what they’ve checked out in the past. Call the library at 697-3822, ext. 13, to turn this feature on for your account.
